Most of It Is
Yes. The vast majority of Cuisinart products — food processors, blenders, coffee makers, toasters, and most cookware — are made in China. Cuisinart is an American brand, headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, but manufacturing moved offshore decades ago. Conair Corporation, which owns Cuisinart, has operated a facility in the Minhang District of Shanghai since 2014.
One exception: the Cuisinart French Classic cookware line is made in France. Every other product line in the current Cuisinart catalog is made in China. Cuisinart does not publish country of origin on their website for most products — the label on the product is the controlling source.
What Is Made in China
Cuisinart’s food processors, the product that built the brand, are made in China. So are the blenders, coffee makers, toasters, electric grills, air fryers, and the Chef’s Classic and MultiClad Pro cookware lines. These are the products most commonly stocked at Target, Bed Bath and Beyond, Costco, and Amazon. The “Made in China” designation is on the packaging and on the product label — Cuisinart does not obscure it, but they do not make it prominent on their website either.
Cuisinart was founded in 1971 by Carl Sontheimer in Greenwich, Connecticut, and was acquired by Conair Corporation in 1989. Conair began manufacturing Cuisinart in China in 2001 and moved into the current Shanghai facility in 2014. The company is now owned by American Securities LLC, which acquired Conair in 2021. The ownership change did not affect manufacturing locations.
What Is Made in France
The Cuisinart French Classic Tri-Ply Stainless cookware line is made in France. This includes saucepans, skillets, stockpots, and sets sold under the French Classic name. The line uses tri-ply stainless steel construction with a pure aluminum core — the same construction method used by most premium cookware manufacturers. The “Made in France” designation is printed on the packaging and stamped on the product. If the packaging does not say French Classic and does not say Made in France, it is made in China.
The French Classic line is available on Amazon and at specialty kitchen retailers. It is not as widely stocked as the Chef’s Classic line, which dominates shelf space at mass-market retailers. If you are looking for it in a store, check the label — Cuisinart sells multiple stainless cookware lines and the packaging is similar enough that it is easy to pick up the wrong one.
How to Check a Specific Product
Cuisinart does not list country of origin on their website product pages consistently. The most reliable method is to check the product label or packaging. For the French Classic line, Amazon listings explicitly state “Made in France.” For everything else, assume China unless the label says otherwise.
Cuisinart’s customer service line (1-800-726-0190) can confirm origin for specific model numbers if you need to verify before purchasing. Current tariffs on Chinese-manufactured goods affect pricing on most Cuisinart products — see our Tariffs Explained page for context on how that affects what you pay.
If You Want Cuisinart Not Made in China
Cuisinart French Classic Tri-Ply Stainless 10-Piece Cookware Set — every piece is stamped made in France. This is the only Cuisinart product line that qualifies. Tri-ply stainless construction, aluminum core, oven safe to 500°F, induction compatible, dishwasher safe. The 10-piece set covers the practical range: two saucepans, a saute pan, a stockpot, and an 8-inch skillet. Verify the label at purchase — it should read “Made in France” and “French Classic.” Around $500.
