Yes — Every Stanley Product Is Made in China

Stanley Quencher made in China

Every Stanley tumbler, Quencher, bottle, and flask currently in production is manufactured in China. The Quencher H2.0, the Classic vacuum bottle, the Adventure series, the IceFlow, the Go series — all of it. There is no current Stanley product manufactured in the United States.

Stanley is an American brand — founded in 1913, designed in Seattle — but manufacturing moved to China in 2002 when Pacific Market International (PMI) acquired the brand. PMI, now operating as PMI Worldwide, outsources all production to contract factories in China with offices in Shanghai and Shenzhen for oversight.

Stanley Is Not a Chinese Company

PMI Worldwide is based in Seattle, Washington. Stanley is American-owned, American-designed, and Chinese-manufactured. The marketing phrase “Designed in Seattle” on Stanley packaging is not a country-of-origin claim — the FTC treats “Designed in” and “Made in” as separate and distinct claims.

How to Verify

  1. Check the bottom of any Stanley tumbler or bottle — most have “Made in China” laser-engraved or printed on the underside.
  2. The retail box lists country of origin in the product details.

Best Alternatives to Stanley Cups Not Made in China

The vacuum-insulated stainless steel tumbler category is almost entirely made in China — an estimated 96% of U.S. imports in this category come from China. For non-Chinese water bottles, Nalgene Tritan plastic bottles are made in Rochester, New York ($15–$20, not insulated), and Liberty Bottleworks makes aluminum bottles in Yakima, Washington. Stanley vs. Yeti

Stanley: All products made in China, no exceptions. Yeti: Rambler drinkware is made in China, but Tundra hard coolers are made in Iowa and Wisconsin (and the Philippines). If you want non-Chinese drinkware, neither brand offers it in tumblers. See Is Yeti Made in China?

Frequently Asked Questions

Are any Stanley products not made in China?

Some Stanley products are manufactured in Brazil, which is the other primary production country alongside China. Stanley does not manufacture drinkware in the United States. The Classic Legendary Bottle — the green vacuum thermos with a century of history — was manufactured domestically for much of the 20th century but is not today.

What stainless steel drinkware brands are genuinely not made in China?

The category is difficult. ORCA Coolers produces some of their tumblers and drinkware at its facility in Tennessee. Klean Kanteen manufactures some products in the United States. Hydroflask, Yeti Rambler, Contigo, and most other major brands manufacture in China.

Will tariffs cause Stanley to move manufacturing out of China?

Unlikely in the near term. Stanley’s manufacturing infrastructure in China represents years of capital investment and supplier relationships that are not easily relocated. PMI Worldwide has not announced plans to move production. The more common response among drinkware brands facing tariff pressure has been to absorb some costs, raise retail prices, and in some cases shift a portion of production to other lower-cost countries such as Vietnam or Mexico — not to reshore to the United States.
