Home Goods Not Made in China (2026)

Finding home goods not made in China is harder than it used to be, but there are still verified brands making bedding, cleaning supplies, candles, and floor care equipment in the United States, Europe, India, and Japan. This page covers what we have confirmed. Where a sub-category has enough verified brands to support its own page, we link there directly.

We verify current country-of-origin disclosures, manufacturer statements, and independent sourcing information. When production locations change, we update our recommendations.

All brands on this page verified as manufactured outside China. Last verified: May 2026. If you spot a change in manufacturing location, let us know.

Bedding Not Made in China

Bedding is one of the harder home goods categories to verify because final assembly often happens in one country while fiber production happens elsewhere. The brands below are transparent about the full sourcing chain — not just where the stitching was done. See more at the Bedding page.

1. 🇺🇸 Pendleton

Pendleton Blanket made in USA

Pendleton has been weaving wool blankets and textiles in the United States since 1863. The company operates mills in Pendleton, Oregon and Washougal, Washington, where virgin wool is washed, carded, spun, and woven on-site. Pendleton’s Native-inspired patterns are produced under licensing agreements with tribal nations and are woven at these mills — not printed overseas and imported.

The wool blanket and throw lines are where origin is most consistently documented. The company also makes cotton bedding, shirts, and home accessories, but those lines vary — the woolen mills are the core manufacturing operation. Check the label before purchasing: Pendleton’s US-woven products are marked “Made in USA of imported wool” — the fiber is sourced internationally but all processing and weaving is done in Oregon or Washington. That meets the FTC standard for domestic manufacturing claims and is well above the bar for a verified non-China product.

  • Best for heirloom-quality wool blankets and throws
  • USA (mills in Pendleton, Oregon and Washougal, Washington)

Recommended model: Pendleton Eco-Wise Wool Blanket (Queen) — 100% wool, machine washable, woven in Oregon. Around $285.

2. 🇮🇳 Boll & Branch

Boll and Branch Duvet

Boll & Branch makes 100% organic cotton sheets, duvet covers, and pillowcases in India under Fair Trade USA certification. The company publishes its factory locations and third-party audit results on its website, putting it well ahead of most bedding brands on sourcing transparency. The cotton is GOTS-certified organic, thread counts run from 300 to 500, and the sheets are consistently rated among the highest-performing in independent consumer testing at the premium tier.

This is one of the most thoroughly documented non-China bedding options available at scale. Boll & Branch sells directly and on Amazon, and carries a 30-day trial period. If you want to dig into the sourcing before purchasing, their website has more factory-level detail than most brands in the category. Verify the specific product before buying — the core sheet and duvet lines are the Fair Trade India-manufactured items; some newer product extensions may differ.

  • Best for organic cotton sheets with fully published non-China sourcing
  • India (Fair Trade USA certified; factory details published at bollandbranch.com)

Recommended model: Boll & Branch Signature Hemmed Sheet Set (Queen) — 300 thread count, GOTS organic cotton, Fair Trade certified. Around $280.

3. 🇺🇸 American Textile

Anerican Textile Sheet Sets

American Textile Company has been manufacturing bedding products in Pennsylvania since 1925. The company operates facilities in Leechburg and Pittsburgh, producing pillows, mattress pads, mattress protectors, and comforters under several brand names including PureComfort and Charisma. Most pillow and mattress pad production shifted to lower-cost countries in the 1990s and 2000s, and American Textile is one of the few brands that has maintained manufacturing in this segment without offshoring it.

Products are sold at major retailers including Costco, Walmart, and Bed Bath & Beyond under both the American Textile name and licensed brand names. The Charisma line at Costco is made at the Pennsylvania facilities. American Textile also sells some imported lines, so not every product at retail is non-China — check the product label before purchasing. Their website lists which product lines are made at the Pennsylvania facilities.

  • Best for pillows and mattress pads at mainstream prices with verified non-China manufacturing
  • USA (Leechburg and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — check label; not all lines qualify)

Cleaning Supplies Not Made in China

Cleaning supplies are one of the more manageable home goods categories for non-China sourcing, because liquid products are expensive to ship long distances and most major brands have formulation and filling infrastructure in the countries where they sell. The challenge is that “made here” often means the formula is mixed locally from ingredients sourced internationally — which is the norm for the category, not a disqualifier. See more information at the Cleaning Supplies page.

4. 🇺🇸 Method

Method Cleaning Spray

Method opened a manufacturing facility in Chicago, Illinois in 2015 — a 220,000-square-foot LEED Platinum-certified plant that produces a significant portion of its US product line. The Chicago facility manufactures dish soap, hand soap, and multi-surface cleaners. Method is owned by SC Johnson, which also owns Mrs. Meyer’s — both brands share manufacturing infrastructure while operating as separate product lines.

Not all Method products are made in Chicago — some lines are produced at contract manufacturers, and the company does not publish a complete per-SKU sourcing list. The dish soap and hand soap lines are the most consistently documented as Chicago production. Method is widely available at Target, Whole Foods, and on Amazon at prices comparable to mainstream alternatives. For buyers who want non-China cleaning products at grocery-store prices without switching to specialty brands, Method is the most accessible verified option in the category.

  • Best for non-China dish soap and hand soap at mainstream prices
  • USA (Chicago, Illinois — select lines; check methodhome.com for current manufacturing details)

Recommended product: Method Dish Soap — made at the Chicago facility. The most widely documented domestic Method product. Around $3.50.

5. 🇺🇸 Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day

Mrs Meyers Hand Soap

Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day manufactures its core liquid cleaning products in the United States. Also owned by SC Johnson, the brand produces dish soap, hand soap, multi-surface spray, and laundry detergent at US facilities. Mrs. Meyer’s is more transparent than most household cleaning brands about where products are made — the company’s website confirms US manufacturing for its core liquid lines and has maintained that position since its founding in Iowa in 2000.

The liquid cleaning line is the verified product to buy — dish soap, hand soaps, and multi-surface cleaners. The candle and dryer sheet lines are separate products with varying sourcing. Mrs. Meyer’s is sold at virtually every major grocery retailer and on Amazon at a slight premium over conventional alternatives. It is the default recommendation in this category for buyers who want non-China cleaning products they can pick up anywhere.

  • Best for plant-based non-China cleaning products available at mainstream retail
  • USA (liquid cleaning lines; check mrsmeyers.com for specific product sourcing)

Recommended product: Mrs. Meyer’s Dish Soap, Lemon Verbena — made in the USA. The most-reviewed Mrs. Meyer’s product on Amazon. Around $15.

Candles Not Made in China

Candles are a solid domestic product with several well-recommended and verified sources mostly in the USA. See more at Candles Not Made in China.

6. 🇺🇸 Paddywax

Paddywax Candle

Paddywax has been hand-pouring candles in Nashville, Tennessee since 1996. The company makes soy-blend and coconut wax candles in ceramic, glass, and tin vessels. Their Nashville facility handles pouring, curing, labeling, and packaging — the full production process is on-site. Paddywax candles are sold at Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters, Barnes & Noble, and on Amazon.

Several distinct lines are available — the Cypress & Fir, Library, and Eco Green collections are among their most consistent sellers. Burn times run from 40 to 65 hours depending on vessel size, and most candles are priced in the $18–$32 range. That puts Paddywax in direct competition with Chinese-manufactured alternatives rather than positioning it as a premium product, which makes it a straightforward swap for most buyers. The Nashville origin is clearly stated on the company’s website and on packaging.

  • Best for hand-poured non-China candles at accessible prices
  • USA (Nashville, Tennessee)

Recommended product: Paddywax Bordeaux Fig & Vetiver Candle — hand-poured in Nashville, soy-blend wax, 50-hour burn time. Around $25.

7. 🇺🇸 Chesapeake Bay Candle

Chesapeake Bay candle labeled "peace + tranquility".

Chesapeake Bay Candle manufactures its candles in Glen Burnie, Maryland, where the company has operated production facilities since its founding in 1994. The brand is now owned by MVB Fragrance Group, which has continued production at the Maryland facility. Chesapeake Bay Candle produces jar candles, pillar candles, and seasonal collections using mineral wax blends, and is one of the most widely distributed non-China candle brands — products are sold at Target, TJ Maxx, and on Amazon.

The Maryland manufacturing has been consistent under multiple ownership periods and is documented on the company’s website. Chesapeake Bay Candle sits in a useful mid-tier price bracket — not a luxury candle, not a commodity import — and burn times are competitive with Chinese-manufactured equivalents at the same price point. For buyers who want a non-China candle they can pick up at Target rather than ordering online, this is the most accessible verified option in the category.

  • Best for non-China candles available at mainstream retail
  • USA (Glen Burnie, Maryland)

Recommended product: Chesapeake Bay Candle Balance & Harmony jar candle — made in Glen Burnie, Maryland. Around $27.

Vacuum Cleaners Not Made in China

Most vacuums sold in the US — including Dyson, Shark, and Hoover — are manufactured in China or Malaysia. Two brands stand out as verified non-China options at different price points. If pets or children are part of the reasons for needing a vacuum, we have a page for Pet Supplies and one for Toys.

8. 🇺🇸 Riccar

Riccar Vacuum

Riccar assembles its upright and canister vacuums in St. James, Missouri, where the company has operated since 1955. Riccar is part of Tacony Corporation, which also owns Simplicity vacuums — both brands are assembled at the Missouri facility. Riccar vacuums use metal components and bagged filtration systems, and are sold primarily through independent vacuum dealers rather than big-box retail. The dealer-direct model exists because Riccar positions its products as long-term appliances that will be serviced and repaired, which requires a dealer service network.

The R30D Radiance and R40P Prima are the flagship lines — full-size bagged uprights with HEPA filtration assembled in Missouri. Pricing starts around $300 and runs to $800 for premium models. Riccar offers a 7-year warranty on motors and a 3-year warranty on parts — longer than most competing brands at any price point. Availability on Amazon is limited to select models; find a local dealer at riccar.com before purchasing.

  • Best for non-China vacuums with long-term serviceability
  • USA (St. James, Missouri)

Recommended model: Riccar R30D Radiance Upright — bagged HEPA filtration, assembled in St. James, Missouri. Around $500. Check riccar.com for a local dealer.

9. 🇩🇪 Miele

Bronze canister vacuum cleaner with hose attachment.

Miele has been manufacturing vacuum cleaners in Bielefeld, Germany since 1927. The company remains family-owned and produces its canister and upright vacuum cleaners at German facilities — the Bielefeld plant handles final assembly, and key components including motors are manufactured in Germany and Austria. Miele tests each vacuum to a 20-year lifespan standard before release, a claim backed by independent testing organizations in Europe.

For buyers who replace a vacuum every few years, Miele is not the obvious choice. For buyers who want to purchase once and keep it for a decade, the per-year cost is competitive with cheaper alternatives.

  • Best for German-engineered non-China floor care built for long-term use
  • Germany (Bielefeld; motors also manufactured in Germany and Austria)

Recommended model: Miele Complete C3 Canister — German-made Vortex Motor, HEPA AirClean sealed system. Around $800 on Amazon and at Best Buy.

How to Verify Home Goods Country of Origin

Bedding: The law label (the small fabric tag sewn into the seam) must state country of origin for textiles sold in the US. Check this tag, not the outer packaging. “Assembled in USA of imported materials” means something different from “Made in USA” — both are legal disclosures but they describe different manufacturing relationships.

Cleaning products: Cleaning products are not required to state country of origin on the label under current FTC rules. Check the brand’s website under its sustainability or sourcing disclosure page. Both Method and Mrs. Meyer’s publish manufacturing location information there.

Candles: Candles are subject to country-of-origin labeling under the Tariff Act of 1930. Check the bottom of the vessel or the outer packaging. Both Paddywax and Chesapeake Bay Candle state their production city and state on packaging.

Vacuum cleaners: Country of origin appears on the product ID label, typically on the underside of upright models or the back panel of canisters. Miele and Riccar both mark their products clearly. For other brands, the FCC ID or UL listing documentation will often include the manufacturing country.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Dyson made in China?

Dyson moved its vacuum cleaner manufacturing from the UK to Malaysia in 2002. Dyson vacuums are not made in China. For buyers who want European or US manufacturing, Miele (Germany) and Riccar (Missouri) are the verified alternatives on this page.

What about Shark vacuums?

Shark vacuums are manufactured in China. Shark’s parent company, SharkNinja, is headquartered in Massachusetts but does not manufacture there. Shark is not a verified option for buyers avoiding Chinese manufacturing.

Are Yankee Candle and Bath & Body Works candles made in China?

Yankee Candle manufactures its candles in South Deerfield, Massachusetts — confirmed as of March 2026. Bath & Body Works candles are also manufactured in the United States, primarily at facilities in Ohio. Neither is on our main list because ownership and manufacturing footprints in both brands have changed several times and warrant their own dedicated verification entries.

Is Boll & Branch a good option if I want non-China bedding?

Yes. Boll & Branch is manufactured in India under Fair Trade USA certification with published factory-level sourcing details — it is one of the most thoroughly documented non-China options in the premium bedding category. It is not made in the United States. If US origin is a specific requirement, Pendleton (wool blankets) and American Textile (pillows and mattress pads) are the verified options on this page.

Do tariffs make non-China home goods more price-competitive now?

Somewhat. The shift in the tariff framework since 2025 has narrowed the price gap in categories like candles and cleaning products where the margin was already modest. For vacuum cleaners, the structural cost gap between German or US manufacturing and Chinese manufacturing remains significant regardless of tariff adjustments. See our Tariffs Explained page for the current framework.
