Gas and Pellet Grills Not Made in China
Most major grill brands — Traeger, Pit Boss, Green Mountain, and most Weber lines — are manufactured in China. This page covers verified alternatives: four grill brands with confirmed North American manufacture and two domestic pellet grill makers. Manufacturing locations and product lines were verified in April 2026.
Two brands on this page require label verification at point of purchase: Napoleon qualifies on the Prestige line only, and Weber qualifies on the Genesis and Summit series only. Broil King, Yoder, and MAK qualify across their full lineups with no exceptions.

Gas and Pellet Grills Made in the USA and Canada
All four brands on this page manufacture in North America. Broil King and Napoleon are Canadian; Yoder and MAK are American. None operate Chinese production lines for the models listed here.
1.
Broil King
Broil King gas grills are manufactured in Huntington, Indiana; Dickson, Tennessee; and Waterloo, Ontario — all North American plants operated by Onward Manufacturing, a Canadian family-owned company since 1986. The Baron series is built in Indiana. Every current gas grill in the Broil King lineup qualifies with no exceptions; there is no Chinese production line in the gas grill range. The Baron 420 is a four-burner cast iron grate grill with a heavy-gauge steel body and 625 square inches of cooking space.
Broil King is the most straightforward option on this page for buyers who want to skip label-checking entirely. Unlike Weber and Napoleon, there is no mixed-origin line to navigate — every Baron, Signet, Sovereign, and Imperial gas grill ships from a North American plant. The Baron 420 runs around $900 and is available through Acme Tools, a US dealer with verified inventory. Broil King carries a limited lifetime warranty on the cookbox and a 5-year warranty on burners and cooking grids.
Best for: Buyers who want a verified North American-made gas grill without model-by-model research.
Made in: USA (Indiana, Tennessee) and Canada (Ontario)
Caveat: None — full lineup qualifies.
2.
Napoleon (Prestige line only)
Napoleon is a Canadian company founded in Barrie, Ontario in 1976. The Prestige and Prestige Pro series gas grills are manufactured at Napoleon’s facilities in Barrie and Oro-Medonte, Ontario, using Canadian steel. Napoleon publishes a “Made in Canada” filter on their website listing qualifying models by series. The Prestige PRO 500 is a five-burner infrared grill with 900 square inches of cooking space, a rear infrared rotisserie burner, and a lifetime warranty on the main burners.
Napoleon’s lower-end lines — including the Rogue and most models sold at Canadian Tire and mass-market retailers — are manufactured in Guangzhou, China at facilities Napoleon owns. The Prestige line is the only qualifying line listed here. Napoleon makes this distinction navigable: their website’s “Made in Canada” filter lists qualifying models explicitly. Verify the label at point of purchase — the Prestige PRO 500 is widely stocked at specialty outdoor retailers and Acme Tools.
Best for: Buyers who want a premium Canadian-made gas grill and are prepared to verify the specific model.
Made in: Canada (Barrie and Oro-Medonte, Ontario)
Caveat: Prestige and Prestige Pro series only. Verify label at purchase.
3.
Yoder Smokers
Yoder Smokers has been building pellet grills and offset smokers in Hutchinson, Kansas since 2009. Every grill in the Yoder lineup is manufactured in Kansas from 10-gauge American steel — significantly heavier than the sheet metal used in most mass-market pellet grills. The YS640s is the flagship residential pellet grill: 640 square inches of cooking space, WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity via the Yoder ACS system, dual food probes, and open-flame searing capability through a removable diffuser plate. The cookbox is built to the same standard as Yoder’s competition-grade pits.
Yoder sells through authorized dealers and direct — not through Amazon or big-box retailers. Lead times vary by model and dealer inventory. The YS640s starts around $1,700 and carries a three-year warranty on the ceramic igniter and a limited warranty on structural components. For buyers who want domestic manufacture and are moving up from a Traeger or similar import, the weight and construction difference is immediately apparent. Yoder’s dealer network covers most of the continental US.
Best for: Buyers who want a USA-made pellet grill built to competition standards.
Made in: USA (Hutchinson, Kansas)
Caveat: None — full lineup qualifies. Dealer or direct purchase only.
4.
Cookshack
Cookshack has been manufacturing smokers and pellet grills in Ponca City, Oklahoma since the early 1960s — one of the oldest continuously operating American BBQ equipment manufacturers. Their residential pellet grills are sold under the Fast Eddy’s brand, developed in collaboration with competition pitmaster Ed “Fast Eddy” Maurin. The PG500 is the entry-level residential model: 784 square inches of cooking space across four cooking zones, stainless steel construction, and a direct-flame broiling option not available on most pellet grills. All Cookshack products are engineered and built at the Ponca City facility.
Cookshack sells direct at cookshack.com — no Amazon, no dealers, no big-box retail. The PG500 starts around $1,900 and is built to the same stainless steel standard as Cookshack’s commercial smoker line, which supplies restaurants and competition teams. The construction is noticeably heavier than consumer pellet grills at this price point. Cookshack does not publish a detailed warranty breakdown publicly — contact them directly for current terms. For buyers who want a fully domestic pellet grill from a company with 60 years of American manufacturing history, Cookshack is the most established name on this page.
Best for: Buyers who want a USA-made pellet grill with commercial-grade construction and a 60-year American manufacturing history.
Made in: USA (Ponca City, Oklahoma)
Caveat: None — full lineup qualifies. Direct purchase only.
5.
MAK Grills
MAK Grills manufactures pellet grills in Dallas, Oregon, where the company was founded in 2007 by a family with a background in custom metal fabrication. Every MAK grill is built in Oregon from US steel. The MAK 2 Star is the core residential model: 936 square inches of cooking space across two racks, a proprietary FlameZone direct-fire system for searing, and MAK’s PID temperature controller — one of the more precise temperature management systems in the pellet grill category. The hopper holds 20 pounds of pellets.
MAK grills are sold factory-direct only — no dealers, no Amazon, no retail stores. The 2 Star starts around $2,400 and includes a lifetime warranty on the cookbox and a three-year warranty on the controller and components. MAK’s Oregon factory does custom builds on request. For buyers who want the most American-made pellet grill available — built, sold, and warrantied from a single US facility — MAK is the option with the cleanest supply chain on this page.
Best for: Buyers who want a fully domestic pellet grill with factory-direct purchase and lifetime cookbox warranty.
Made in: USA (Dallas, Oregon)
Caveat: None — full lineup qualifies. Factory direct only.
A Note on Traeger Pellets
Traeger grills are made in China — but Traeger’s wood pellets are manufactured in the United States using American hardwoods. If you already own a Traeger and are sourcing pellets, the pellets qualify. The grills do not. For the full Traeger origin breakdown, see Is Traeger Made in China?
Frequently Asked Questions
Are any pellet grills made in the USA?
Yes. Yoder Smokers in Hutchinson, Kansas and MAK Grills in Dallas, Oregon both manufacture pellet grills in the United States. Cookshack in Ponca City, Oklahoma is a third option, sold under the Fast Eddy’s brand. All three are premium products starting around $1,700 and up. None are available at big-box retailers or on Amazon.
How do I know if a Napoleon grill is made in Canada?
Napoleon publishes a “Made in Canada” filter on their website at napoleon.com. Only models listed under that filter qualify. At retail, the country of origin appears on the product label — check it before purchasing. The Prestige and Prestige Pro series are the qualifying lines. The Rogue series is not.
Does Broil King make any grills in China?
Not in their gas grill lineup. Every current Broil King gas grill is manufactured in Indiana, Tennessee, or Ontario. Broil King does produce some charcoal and kamado-style grills — verify the label on those specific products, as the manufacturing standard described here applies to the gas grill line.
What is the difference between a Yoder and a MAK?
Both are USA-made pellet grills in the premium segment. Yoder sells through dealers and has a wider service network across the US. MAK sells factory-direct from Oregon with a lifetime cookbox warranty. Yoder’s ACS system uses WiFi and Bluetooth; MAK’s PID controller is wired. Both use US steel and manufacture entirely in the United States.
Why are domestic pellet grills so much more expensive than Traeger?
Traeger manufactures in China, where labor and production costs are significantly lower. Yoder, MAK, and Cookshack manufacture in the United States using heavier-gauge steel and domestic labor. The price difference — roughly $1,000–$1,500 over a comparable Traeger — reflects those input costs directly. Current tariffs on Chinese-manufactured goods have narrowed the gap somewhat. See Tariffs Explained for current rates.
Is Weber a good alternative to Traeger if I want a grill not made in China?
Partially. Weber’s Genesis and Summit series gas grills are assembled in Huntley, Illinois. The Spirit series is made in China. Weber is a gas grill, not a pellet grill, so it is not a direct Traeger substitute. For a full Weber origin breakdown, see Is Weber Made in the USA?
